노르딕 Thingy:53 IoT 프로토타이핑 플랫폼

노르딕 Thingy:53(Nordic Thingy:53™)은 사용이 편리한 IoT 프로토타이핑 플랫폼으로, 맞춤형 하드웨어를 구현하지 않고도 프로토타입 및 제품 컨셉 확인을 진행할 수 있다. Thingy:53은 노르딕의 대표적인 듀얼 코어 무선 SoC인 nRF5340 SoC를 기반으로 구현되었다. 듀얼 Arm Cortex-M33 프로세서의 프로세싱 성능과 메모리 용량을 통해 임베디드 머신러닝 모델을 디바이스 상에서 직접 실행할 수 있다. 

사용자는 nRF 엣지 임펄스(Edge Impulse) 앱을 이용하여 모바일 기기에서 노르딕 Thingy:53을 엣지 임펄스 스튜디오 계정에 연결할 수 있다. 이를 통해 센서 데이터를 블루투스 LE(Bluetooth® Low Energy) 기반 무선으로 모바일 기기로 전송할 수 있으며, 트레이닝을 위해 클라우드에 업로드한 이후, 개발 전개 및 추론을 위해 트레이닝된 머신러닝 모델을 Thingy:53에 다운로드할 수 있다. 또한 이 앱은 실행 중인 머신러닝 모델의 추론 결과를 확인할 수 있도록 GUI 역할도 수행한다. 

블루투스 LE 무선을 통해 펌웨어 업데이트 및 통신이 가능하며, 이외에도 블루투스 메시(Bluetooth mesh), 스레드(Thread), 지그비(Zigbee) 및 2.4GHz 독점 프로토콜과 같은 다른 무선 프로토콜도 지원한다. 또한 스레드 프로토콜과의 호환성은 새로운 매터(Matter) 에코시스템 제품 개발에 있어서도 중요한 역할을 한다. 매터는 인터넷 프로토콜(IP)을 네트워크 레이어로 사용하는 커넥티드 홈 애플리케이션을 위한 표준화된 애플리케이션 레이어이다. 

또한 Thingy:53에는 환경, 컬러, 조명 센서와 가속도계 및 자력계와 같은 다양한 통합 센서들이 포함되어 있으며, 모두 추가 하드웨어 없이 활용할 수 있다. 이 플랫폼은 USB-C를 통해 충전할 수 있는 1,350mAh 용량의 충전식 리튬폴리머 배터리로 구동되며, 하드웨어 액세서리를 위한 스테마(Stemma), 퀴익(Qwiic), 그로브(Groove) 표준과 호환되는 4핀 JST 커넥터를 갖추고 있다. 

모든 Thingy:53은 iOS 및 안드로이드용 nRF엣지 임펄스 앱과 동작하는 펌웨어가 사전 설치되어 있다. 또한 모바일 기기에서 직접 무선으로 펌웨어를 업데이트할 수 있는 nRF 프로그래머 앱도 Thingy:53과 함께 제공된다.
