Edge AI for cellular

[Solve existing problems in new and optimized ways

The nRF9151 can run ultra-tiny Neutron AI models built from your data using our patented network-growing algorithm. Their exceptional size and energy efficiency enable on‑device AI on nRF9151, without compromising battery life. As an example, an asset tracker deep inside a shipping container at sea could use a Neuton AI model to distinguish wave motion from delivery truck motion, and save power by adjusting wakeup and transmissions at sea versus on land.

The upcoming nRF92 series adds the Axon NPU is our dedicated AI accelerator core, designed to increase the speed and efficiency of TensorFlow Lite models at the edge. It delivers up to 8× higher energy efficiency and up to 7× faster inference compared to the closest competing solutions and bring capabilities such audio AI. You can integrate and bring capabilities such audio AI directly into your application running inside the nRF92 cellular module, saving power and reducing the need for a host processor.

Locationing

Balance power consumption with position accuracy, all powered by nRF Cloud

Cellular

Cellular network measurements provide low power, globally available positioning, reducing reliance on GNSS for low power tracking outside and indoor with typical accuracy of 100s of meters.

Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi location using passive signal detection from nearby Wi-Fi Access Points to provide a low power method of location that typically achieve 5-15m of accuracy indoor and outside. No Wi-Fi certification is required. Nordic provides modules with both integrated Wi-Fi location or support for external Wi-Fi companion IC such as the nRF7000 

GNNS

Non‑continuous GNSS delivers high‑accuracy positioning on demand, activating GPS only when required to reduce power consumption. This approach enables precise location fixes while maintaining multi‑year battery life in cellular IoT device. Cloud assistance GPS reduces time-to-first-fix from minutes to seconds.

SIM Flexibility

Select from a range of SIM options to provide a design with the right cost, power and size options.

nuSIM integrated SIM (iSIM) removes the need for a physical SIM card. nuSIM is an open standard that enables fully digital provisioning of profiles from supported mobile network operators.

softSIM enables integrated SIM offerings from a range of connectivity providers. Nordic's public softSIM interface allows anyone to select softSIM on nRF91 series.

SGP.32 IoT eSIM is also fully supported as the GSMA standard optimized for IoT remote SIM provisioning.
